SUBJECT: Picard And Paramount

Hello Joel, and Stephen,

While you, and Alastair were discussing Season 3 of Picard, and the ‘commercial breaks’ you asked if anyone from the States could chime in. I do subscribe in the US to Paramount, and confirm they are not commercial breaks on Paramount, though I have noticed the same sort of ‘fade’. I often find myself feeling that an episode is ending, but it turns out to just be the most recent ‘fade’.

If you’ll indulge me, it was good to hear your opinions on the wooden-ness of some of the interactions between Riker, and Picard. “You’ve killed us all” and such.

I feel it stems from the fact I never once believed Riker’s hesitancy in fighting. Maybe Riker had changed in the intervening twenty years, God knows I sure have.  I just don’t think they communicated that charge enough, so I was left waiting for the “damn the torpedoes!”, and sort it out later Riker I knew.
